Asmodee Digital held a press conference at Gen Con, partnering with Shut Up and Sit Down to help them announce their lineup coming in Q4 as well as looking ahead to 2019. Among the titles announced was Gloomhaven, developed by Flaming Fowl Studios. Like it’s counterpart, this will be a dungeon-crawling RPG and Asmodee describes it will include, for the first time, “an infinitely replayable roguelike mode.” Pierre Ortolan, CEO of Asmodee Digital, says of the game, “it’s one of the highest regarded games from the tabletop community and is a perfect addition to our digital catalogue.” At the press conference, on video, Isaac Childres agreed, reminding the audience that Gloomhaven was inspired by video games and thus it makes sense the game should one day turn to the medium. Gloomhaven is scheduled for Steam Early Access in Q1 2019.
Also noted in development is Munchkin and while not much can be said about gameplay yet, Steve Jackson calls it a “new game and a good one.” Asmodee Digital is aware of the parody built into the foundation of the game and they are keeping that at the helm of their “dungeon crawling, co-oppetitive, elbow-nudging fantasy.” Munchkin is scheduled to release in 2019.
Asmodee Digital’s line up for the rest of 2018 includes Lord of the Rings, The LIving Card Game, Scythe: Digital Edition, Terraforming Mars (which will be available on iOS and Android as well), Pandemic, Onitama, Bang!, Bananagrams, Gloom, Five Tribes, Ticket to Ride and Carcassonne. Mansions of Madness, Mother’s Embrace is slated for a Q1 2019 release.
