The Expected: A tile laying game with a flare of romantic architectural flavor as befits the Fairy-Tale king.
The Excessive: Scoring. There’s just no way around it. Scoring this game is tedious.
The Exceptional: Thematic immersion both in play and design. Stonemaier has captured King Ludwig right down to the pillows.

Bewtween Two Castles of Mad King Ludwig, designed by Matthew O'Malley and Ben Rosset. Art by A. Dabrowiecka, L. Bevon, and B. Kordowski

Quotable:
Designers Ben and Matthew have really brought their design idea from Between Two Cities to life in Between Two Castle. There is no play style that is wrong, whether you need the balance of symmetry in your castle, or you just want to draft all the pretty gardens; both can be paths to victory.
